We’ve all been there, mindlessly scrolling every streaming platform trying to figure out which TV show to watch next. Do you take a gamble and commit to something brand new, or watch The Office for the 5th time through?
Scroll no more! Here are 14 of the BEST “never leave your couch”, binge-worth TV shows to watch while staying home during COVID-19…or anytime you want really! I’m not here to judge, watching shows on Netflix, Hulu, Amazon Prime and Disney+ has helped keep me a LITTLE sane 😉
Before reading on: Even if you assume you’re not going to like a show, I encourage you to watch the first episode before committing to never watching it! You might be surprised 😎
Greys Anatomy – Netflix
Greys is a medical drama series that’s been running since 2005 and is still THRIVING. I’ve seen this series all the way through 3 times now. Anytime I catch up to the live episodes, I start over! Shonda Rhimes, the main writer for the show, does a spectacular job keeping you on your toes every episode and you feel like you become best friends with the characters. Once you start, you can never stop.
New Girl – Netflix
New Girl is such a fun, happy and upbeat show. Zooey Deschanel plays the leading lady in this sitcom! Her character, Jess, moves into a loft in LA with three male roommates. Their friendship dynamic becomes GOALS and makes you wish it was that easy to find roommates on Craigslist!
The Office – Netflix
This is a given. If you have not seen The Office by now…who even are you!?!? The Office is an American mockumentary show that follows the everyday lives of office employees. The first season starts a little slow but it gets better and better with each season that follows. I guarantee you will laugh, cry and feel completely awkward watching this show.
Chuck – free Amazon Prime Video
I don’t know how this show wasn’t/isn’t wildly popular! The main character, Chuck, is a complete geek! After opening an email from his ex-college friend that downloads all government secrets into his head, he becomes a HUGE asset. Even though it might sound superheroic, Chuck is still a computer nerd trying to live a normal life! It’s quirky, hilarious and action-packed!
Monk – free on Amazon Prime Video
I have to admit this is one of my all-time favorite shows. I watched this growing up with my mom and still to this day I play it in the background when cleaning the house or doing laundry. Monk becomes an EX-detective for the San Francisco Police Department after his wife, Trudy, was killed by a car bomb. He’s passionate to get back onto the force and solve his wife’s murder. However, he now suffers from nervous breakdowns and OCD. You fall in love with Monk and end up rolling on the floor laughing watching him solve cases as a Private Detective.
Teen Wolf – free on Amazon Prime Video
Honestly, I didn’t want to watch this show after the whole “vampire/wearwolf” thing became all the rage in 2009. I refused to watch anything wolf related…until last year when John talked me into it. I was SHOCKED by how much I became addicted to the storyline and characters. This one is a MUST.
Black Mirror – Netflix
Black Mirror is a British series where each episode is independent of another. If you love dark, twisty and critical thinking…this is your cup of tea.
How To Get Away With Murder – Netflix
Another Shonda Rhimes series…can she do any wrong? Five law students become tangled up in a murder plot. The ultimate whodunnit that’ll keep you on your toes through EVERY season.
Criminal Minds – Netflix
Criminal Minds, the longest-running Primetime series to date, ran for 15 years. This crime series follows the FBI while they solve murders using their profiling techniques. I watched every crime show growing up with my mom (ex. Monk ^) and this is one we still watch together whenever I visit her.
Ghost Whisperer – Hulu
This one is another classic throwback for me. Jennifer Love Hewitt plays Melinda Gordon in this supernatural series, who has the ability to see ghosts. Each episode she ventures to help the ghost find closure and go towards the light. Might sound a little cheesy, which it can be, but I love anything Jennifer Love Hewitt!
The Masked Singer – Hulu
Let’s throw something happy into the mix! I LOVE The Masked Singer. I got my family, friends and co-workers all hooked on this show. Even the ones who “hate singing competitions”! That’s because it’s so much more than that! You can’t knock it till you try it!
Designated Survivor – Netflix
I hesitantly refer this one to you because it stopped production so it ends on a cliff hanger. HOWEVER, the first season was SOOOOO good, I had to refer it. I’m not usually one who likes political based shows, but the premise had me intrigued. After an explosion that kills the President of the United States, and everyone else in line, the US Secretary of Housing is forced into the role of President. Look up the trailer!
Pushing Daisies – (used to be free but now $2.99 for both seasons on Amazon Prime Video)
LOVE LOVE LOVE. Pushing Daisies is another crime series with an amazing twist. Ned has the ability to bring the dead back to life with a simple touch. Touch them again, and they’re back to dead. If he keeps someone alive longer than 60 seconds…someone else dies. I know…so many rules! He starts a Private Investigation Business with his friend and discovers his childhood sweetheart has passed away…will he save her!??!
I know this isn’t on Netflix anymore and there is nowhere to watch it without paying a fortune but it didn’t feel right to not say it. Friends is, and will forever, be perfect.
What a perfect way to wrap up these suggestions. Now what are you waiting for!? GO BINGE!
