“Is blogging dead?”
This is a question I hear all the time, and it might even be the one you asked that led you to this very blog. With social media platforms growing and AI tools reshaping the way we find information, it might seem like blogs have lost their place in our lives.
However, the reality of blogging in 2025 is so much more interesting.
In this guide, I’m going to cover what a blog is, why it’s still valuable to have a blog in 2025, and ways that blogging can actually work with Instagram to help you grow as a Content Creator.
Ready? Let’s jump right in.
A Guide to Blogging and Instagram Strategy for Content Creators

What Is a Blog?
A blog is your little corner of the internet. It’s a space to share long-form written content (like the post you’re reading right now). It’s also a place where you can share photos and long-form video content (I often use my blog as another platform for my YouTube videos).
A blog is where you can educate, inspire, and build deeper connections with your audience. And unlike fast-paced content on social media, blog posts continue working for you long after you hit publish, driving traffic, engagement, and potential income over time.
You can host a blog on your own website or share your thoughts and writing on a platform like Substack.
In fact, I would argue that the rise in Substack is proof that blogging isn’t dead. And while Substack calls itself a newsletter platform, many creators are using it like a blog, creating a hub for sharing long-form thoughts, stories, and guides.
The explosive growth of Substack shows just how much people still value written content.

Is Blogging Dead?
Let’s settle this once and for all: blogging isn’t dead. However, it has evolved.
Written content offers a unique ability to consume at your own pace, and while video has dominated in recent years, the demand for thoughtful blogs and newsletters proves that storytelling still matters.
In this YouTube video, I shared how lifestyle-focused, long-form content is growing in popularity in 2025. People are increasingly burnt out by the fast, endless stream of short-form videos on Instagram and TikTok. What they crave instead is authenticity or the kind of storytelling that makes them feel genuinely connected.
I would argue that this is the biggest trend we’re seeing in 2025: authenticity and storytelling.
For Instagram especially, blogging can be a powerful tool in your overall content strategy. With a blog, you can expand on ideas, share deeper stories, and build stronger relationships with your followers and readers.

Who Should Start a Blog?
While having a blog can be very beneficial, here’s the thing: you don’t need a blog to be successful as a creator. Plenty of creators grow thriving platforms on Instagram, YouTube, TikTok, and beyond without ever touching a blog.
But — if you’re already creating long-form content, a blog can be a smart addition to your strategy. For example, if you:
- Film YouTube videos and already write detailed scripts.
- Host a podcast and want to repurpose episodes into searchable content.
- Write long captions, guides, or newsletters for your audience.
- Can expand lessons that you are already teaching into blog posts
…then starting a blog won’t feel like “one more thing.” It’s just another way to get more out of content you’re already creating.

How to Make Money with Your Blog
Now, of course, blogging can also open up a new income stream for your business.
One of my biggest goals is to help you earn money as quickly as possible in your content creation journey. Luckily, there are so many ways that a blog can help you with this. Here are just a few ideas that can help you monetize your blog within the first six months:
- Affiliate Marketing: Blogs are the perfect platform for affiliate links because they allow you to effectively showcase a tool or product you love within long-form content. For example, I share tools like StanStore and Canva in my blog posts. This way, I’m able to build trust with my audience while also earning an affiliate commission.
- Collaborations: Blogging can be used to upsell collaborations on Instagram. Highlight your content’s shelf-life and storytelling value to show brands why a blog post is worth including.
- Digital Products: You can even promote your own products through your blogs. For example, if you sell a digital guide on pitching brands, write a blog post that naturally leads readers to your product. With this strategy, you can create SEO-driven content that works almost like a sales page for each of your digital products.
There are plenty of benefits to having a blog, but as I said before, the way we blog in 2025 has evolved. Here’s a quick guide for any creators who are looking to start a blog in 2025. I’ll also tie blogging into Instagram so I can show you how the two platforms can work together to help you grow.

How to Blog in 2025 (A Guide for Instagram Creators)
Blogging is a long-term game, which can be exactly what puts people off starting one. On social media, likes, comments, and follows are instant, while blogging can take months of consistency before you see results.
In reality, it’s unlikely that your blog will make you any money for the first 6 months. However, the real power of blogging lies in compounding results. With a blog, your traffic and income grow the longer you do it consistently.
Why Blogging Still Matters
- You control the content: Unlike social media, you own your blog. You can edit, update, and republish content at any time.
- Discoverability: Blogs allow you to grow outside of social media algorithms. Search engines, Pinterest, and other platforms can bring consistent traffic to your content, and oftentimes, to get discovered, you simply need to create valuable content.
- Storytelling: A blog provides you with the space to share your authentic stories in full. And these stories can then be repurposed to your other platforms (more on this soon!).

Compounding Blog Traffic (and Income)
Algorithms on social media platforms prioritize new content. This leads to the average ‘shelf-life’ of a post on Instagram to be about 24-72 hours. Blogs, on the other hand, continue to attract readers days, months, and even years after you hit publish. This is because the Google Algorithm doesn’t work like most social media algorithms.
When you search for something on Google, the algorithm scans billions of web pages and ranks them according to relevance, quality, and authority to show you the most helpful results. This means that your blog content remains relevant and continues to grow in relevance the longer it’s been on your website.
Focus your content on evergreen topics that address the most important questions in your niche. These core content pillars can also include affiliate links and product mentions, allowing your income to grow as your traffic increases.
Pro tip: Blogging and Instagram are circular: use each platform to support the other. A blog post can drive Instagram followers, and your Instagram can drive readers back to your blog.

Blogging for Instagram (Repurposing Content)
Now, let’s talk a bit more about how your blog and Instagram can work together. When done correctly, your blog content is a goldmine for Instagram (and YouTube or TikTok!):
- Carousel posts: Break your blog post up into slides. This can be an entire carousel for a single blog post, or multiple carousels that cover multiple topics within a blog.
- Stories: Show behind-the-scenes moments of writing your blog. You can also share specific tips from your blogs on Instagram stories.
- Reels: Share quick summaries or hooks from your blog posts.
- Captions: Use storytelling snippets directly from your blog.
Every blog post can easily be turned into multiple pieces of Instagram content, maximizing your reach and saving you time.
You can take this even further than Instagram. On my blog, I repurpose content from my blog and YouTube. I share my content on Instagram, TikTok, my email newsletter, and Pinterest. You don’t need to create a unique piece of content for each of these platforms. You simply need to tweak the content you’ve already created to work for each of these.
An email newsletter and a Pinterest account are just extensions of your blog. And if you’ve watched any of my YouTube videos, you know that I truly believe that every content creator should have an email list from day one. Not sure what to send to your subscribers? Your blog posts are a great place to start!

How to Blog Authentically in 2025
Now here’s the big question. Throughout this post, I’ve talked about the importance of authentic storytelling in 2025. Blogging is the perfect way to do that, but it’s important to also address one important change in blogging this year: the rise in AI platforms like ChatGPT.
Can I Use ChatGPT to Blog in 2025?
I love using ChatGPT as a tool in my business. It’s a great tool for brainstorming ideas and gaining new perspectives on how to make a trend your own. The same can be said for using ChatGPT as a tool in your blogging. However, you should never use ChatGPT to actually write your blog post.
If you’ve ever tried to get ChatGPT to write an entire blog post for you, you might have noticed a few things:
- It sounds like it was written by AI.
- It lacks creativity
- And things get very repetitive very quickly.
That’s because it’s AI, not a real, mistake-making, creative human being. If you use ChatGPT (or another similar AI tool) to write your blogs, you’ll notice very quickly that all of your blogs sound the same to everyone else who’s using it to write their blogs. In other words, you’ll lose that authenticity.
Instead, use it as a tool to help you refine a point, research an idea, or do light copyediting. ChatGPT is a great research assistant and editor, but it’s not a great authentic and creative storyteller. That’s YOU. That’s where your power comes from.

Why Instagram Creators Should Blog in 2025
Blogging isn’t dead: it’s evolving. In 2025, audiences crave authenticity, storytelling, and real connections. While video is important, people continue to seek authentic, long-form content.
For Instagram creators, a blog allows you to:
- Share stronger, more authentic stories.
- Build deeper connections with your audience.
- Increase discoverability and long-term traffic.
- Monetize through affiliate links, collaborations, and digital products.
Integrating blogging with Instagram provides a powerful and sustainable content strategy. Your blog is the anchor that can support everything else in your content creation journey.
Do I Have to Start a Blog In Order to Grow My Personal Brand?
The answer is absolutely not. You can grow your brand with Instagram, YouTube, TikTok, or any other platform that you love without ever starting a blog. But blogging does offer something unique: it gives your content a home that you own, it boosts your discoverability on Google and Pinterest, and it allows you to tell deeper stories than short-form content.
Think about blogging as an extra tool in your creator toolbox, especially if you’re already creating content that converts well into a blog.
