Today, I’m sharing eight things every creator needs to hear if they want to succeed on TikTok or, really, if they want to succeed as a content creator in general. And I’m not talking about growing for a week… but actually building something sustainable on TikTok.

This isn’t about hacks, trends, or chasing views (although we do love a good trend). This is about setting the right expectations from the start so you can build a growth strategy that works in the long term. Because when you know what to expect, you’re more likely to stay consistent, show up with confidence, and keep going when things get hard.

So whether you’re brand new to TikTok or ready to take things to the next level, these are the 8 ways to guarantee your success on TikTok this year.

As always, if you’d like to watch instead of read, find the video on YouTube

8 Ways To Guarantee Your Success On TikTok

1. You Have to Actually Love It

Here’s the truth: if you want to be successful on TikTok, you have to genuinely love the platform.

One of the questions I get asked the most by my students is, “Which platform should I focus on?” And my answer is always the same: go where you actually enjoy spending your time.

Too many creators choose TikTok (or any platform) because they think they should be on it. But if you don’t enjoy it? You’ll burn out fast. You’ll stop posting, and the time and energy you spent trying to grow… will be wasted.

Instead, start by picking the platform that sparks your creativity! The platform that you already love being on. The one that makes you say, “Ooh, I want to try that.” If that’s TikTok, amazing. You’re already one step ahead.

The reality is the more you enjoy being on a platform, the easier it is to stay consistent, show up confidently, and keep going when growth feels slow. That’s where real success starts.

2. Make It Fit Your Lifestyle

The second key to guarantee your success on TikTok? Find a way to make content creation a natural part of your lifestyle, whether that’s daily, weekly, or even monthly.

The creators you look up to didn’t build their careers by forcing content into their lives; they adapted content around their lives. For them, filming became second nature. Just like brushing their teeth, documenting and creating became a habit.

That’s the mindset shift: instead of trying to squeeze content into your routine, find a way to build content around what you’re already doing.

Consistency doesn’t come from motivation; it comes from habits. And the creators who last are the ones who’ve made content creation part of their everyday life, no matter how a video performs.

Now, that doesn’t mean you need to daily vlog or film every second of your day. But be curious. Experiment. Start noticing what type of content feels effortless and most natural to create, and lean into that.

That’s how you stay consistent. That’s how you outlast.

3. Be Okay With Not Going Viral

Here’s your permission slip: you don’t need to go viral to guarantee your success on TikTok.

I know it’s tempting to chase virality; it looks exciting, it feels validating, and sure, it can open doors. But if going viral is your only goal, you’re going to burn out fast.

Virality isn’t the goal—longevity is.

We’re not building a platform for one exciting week. We’re building a brand that supports your dream for years to come. That means thinking beyond your next video and focusing on the kind of consistent growth that actually sticks.

It also means being okay with slow seasons. We all know the story of the tortoise and the hare; slow and steady still wins. Focus on one post at a time. That mindset shift alone will save you so much stress when a video doesn’t take off because going viral was never the point.

If you’re in a slower growth season, take advantage of it. Instead of obsessing over reach, double down on community. Nurture the followers you already have. Show up for them. Talk to them. Turn them into die-hard fans before that breakout moment hits.

Because when it does? You’ll be ready.

The TikTok Accelerator Course

Before we jump into number four, if you love this post, then you’re going to love the TikTok Accelerator Course.

This post is just a sneak peek of what’s inside the course.

If you didn’t already know, while I’m on maternity leave, I’ve been sharing videos on YouTube that give you a behind-the-scenes look at what my courses are all about. These blogs are created from the most helpful parts of those videos to help you figure out which course might be the best fit for where you’re at.

The TikTok Accelerator Course is designed to take you from Point A to Point Z with no fluff. It’s a straight-to-the-point, step-by-step program to help you grow on TikTok as quickly and strategically as possible.

Inside, we break down everything from:

  • Understanding how the TikTok algorithm really works
  • Boosting your engagement
  • Growing a personal brand that people want to follow

You’ll also get bonus tools like my TikTok Content Calendar, Hook Prompts, Script Templates, and more.

So, if you’re ready to stop guessing and start growing, check out the course here. You don’t need to figure it all out on your own; this course is your shortcut.

4. Be Intentional to Avoid Burnout

If you want to guarantee your success on TikTok, you need to be intentional about one thing: avoiding burnout.

Everyone creates at a different pace. Everyone has different energy levels. So, the worst thing you can do is compare your posting schedule to someone else’s. Trust me, I’ve done it. There are creators in my niche posting 1–3 times a day, and I’ve definitely had moments where I thought, “I wish I could do that too.”

But the truth is… that’s not realistic for me, my energy levels, or my lifestyle. And that’s okay.

The goal isn’t to post as much as possible. The goal is to create a schedule that you can stick to consistently long-term. I’d rather post once a week for a year than post three times a day for two months and burn out completely.

And yes, burnout is real. I’ve been through it. It’s not fun, and it’s not worth sacrificing your mental health or creativity.

If burnout is something you’ve struggled with, I highly recommend the book Burnout: Unlocking the Stress Cycle by Emily and Amelia Nagoski. This book seriously changed my life. It helped me understand how to protect my energy while still achieving my goals.

So, give yourself permission to create at a pace that’s right for you. That’s what leads to consistency. Consistency is what leads to real, lasting growth.

5. Set Goals You Can Actually Control

One of the most significant mindset shifts you need to make as a creator? Set goals that are within your control.

A super common goal I hear from my students is, “I want to hit 10k followers.” And listen, I love that. It’s totally okay to dream big and have those milestone goals. But it’s just as important to set goals that you can actually influence.

Because the truth is, you can’t control who follows you. You can’t force virality. But what can you control?

  • How often do you post
  • What kind of content do you create
  • How consistently do you show up

Those are the goals I want you to set. Instead of, “I want to hit 10k,” try:

  • “I’m going to post 3 times a week for the next 90 days.”
  • “I’m going to batch film every Sunday.”
  • “I’m going to test 5 new hooks this month.”

Setting process-based goals like these will not only keep you focused but also help you build the habits that lead to those big results down the line.

So yes, keep the big dreams. But anchor them with goals you can actually own.

6. Focus on Just TikTok

You might not love this one… but if you really want to guarantee your success on TikTok this year, you need to go all in. And that means focusing solely on TikTok.

You can’t expect to build momentum on TikTok and try to grow on Instagram and YouTube all at the same time, especially if you’re just getting started.

Now, I know the idea of repurposing content sounds smart. I hear it all the time from students: “I’m going to focus on TikTok, but I’ll just repost those videos to other platforms, too.” Totally fair. But here’s my advice; time yourself.

Seriously, see how long it actually takes to:

  • Repost the video
  • Write new captions
  • Engage with comments on those other platforms

Now ask yourself: could that time have been better spent doubling down on TikTok, refining your strategy, testing new hooks, or improving your content?

Because here’s the truth: when you’re focused, you grow faster. I always recommend picking one platform at the start. Build your strategy. Build your momentum. Then, once you’re confident in your content and starting to see traction, you could repost and expand.

But in the beginning? Go tunnel vision. Give yourself permission to not be everywhere. That’s how you actually become the creator you want to be, by getting really good at one thing first.

7. Think Like an Entrepreneur

To guarantee your success on TikTok, you can’t just think like a creator; you need to think like an entrepreneur.

The fact that you’re even reading this blog tells me you’re already starting to do that. But here’s what I want to emphasize: never stop learning.

Take the course. Listen to the podcast. Read the book. Invest in your education the same way you would if you were starting any other business because that’s exactly what this is.

One of the biggest mistakes I made early on was treating Instagram like a side hustle, hoping it would take off magically. I kept posting, but I didn’t have a real strategy behind it.

And guess what? That didn’t get me anywhere.

Everything changed when I started treating this like a business. When I actively studied how creators grow, how the platforms work, and how to build systems behind my content. That’s when the growth (and the income) started to happen.

If you want to scale, you have to shift your mindset. This isn’t just a hobby or a hope. This is your business. And when you think like an entrepreneur, you’ll grow like one.

8. Providing Value Is Your Golden Ticket

The final way to guarantee your success on TikTok? Always provide value.

I know “provide value” is one of those phrases we’ve all heard a million times (guilty, I say it too). But let’s pause and really sit with it for a second.

  • What does “providing value” actually mean to you?
  • What kind of videos do you find valuable?
  • What type of content would your audience find helpful, inspiring, or entertaining?

Every successful creator on TikTok has figured out their unique way of providing value. For some, it’s education. For others, it’s storytelling. For some, it’s pure entertainment that makes people feel seen or laugh out loud. There’s no one-size-fits-all.

And that’s the beautiful part, value is personal. What you bring to the table is going to look completely different than what someone else brings. Your job is to discover what that is and then lead with it.

So, instead of stressing about the algorithm or trying to copy someone else’s style, ask yourself: What’s the value that only I can give?

Because that—that—is your golden ticket.
