What is UGC? How are Content Creators making $10,000-$20,000/month making it?

If you have 0 followers, how can you start as a UGC Creator and make money in the next 30 days?

I’m starting a 3-part series going over User Generated Content. Today, we’re going to start with your frequently asked questions to get you up-to-speed on everything UGC.

Let’s go.

What is UGC?

UGC stands for User Generated Content. User Generated Content is authentically created content by an everyday user of that product or brand.

In this context, “authentically” means content not manufactured by the brand or creator of the product. The content can be paid for, but the creator usually (and should) have creative freedom, giving the content an organic and authentic look and feel.

And the content isn’t limited to just videos. It can be videos, photos, text, reviews or anything from real users.

Why Do Brands Love User Generated Content?

There are a few alternatives to User Generated Content that brands can do.

They can hire their own video production team, social media team or marketing team to make professional video content and ads. Or, they can work with influencers to create content and promote their offer, brand or product.

UGC acts as the middle ground for brands:

1. They get to partner with everyday people who genuinely love their brand.

2. They don’t have to hire an entire production team or pay for professional videos, saving them a lot of money.

3. Unlike with Influencers, brands don’t have to pay Creators to post the content they create. The UGC creator just creates. They don’t need an established audience.

It’s a different form of brand collaboration, but it’s a collab nonetheless, and landing a deal can require the same effort and strategies. So, brush up on your brand networking skills because brands are looking for creators to work with.

It’s a win-win.

What’s the Difference Between an Influencer and a UGC Creator?

Influencers are Content Creators that brands pay to create content to promote to the Influencer’s audience in hopes that the brand reaches a new audience or generates some business traffic and sales.

With UGC creators, brands will pay you to make content that the brand will then post on their own social channels. You don’t have to post, you just create.

If you want to be a full-time Content Creator who has 0 photography or videography experience, this is a great place to start.

Does UGC Content Have to be High-Quality Content?

While there are Creators who make these amazing, high-quality content and videos, UGC doesn’t have to be high-quality.

A lot of brands love for their content to look like it was created by an everyday person or user. This casual content comes across as more authentic to a viewer because it doesn’t look like the typical, overly-produced ad.

Any Other Questions?

And that’s pretty much it for your UGC FAQs.

If you have more questions, comment them below and I’ll be happy to answer! If there are a lot more questions, then I’ll just have to write another post answering them, which I’m sure you wouldn’t mind 😊.
